Casa - Pueblito is committed to working in solidarity with our community partners to tackle their most pressing needs and create positive change.
There are five areas of focus for our program.
education and culture
Education and Culture: We support academic and artistic education for girls and boys; academic, vocational and agricultural training for youth and adults, and strengthening territorial governance and youth appropriation of rights and identity for indigenous people.
Health and wellbeing
Health & Wellbeing: We contribute to improving health and wellbeing through alternative health and psychosocial services and promoting healthy eating and recreation for adults and children.
gender Equality & women’s and girls’ empowerment
Women’s and Girls’ Empowerment & Gender Equality: We seek to end systemic gendered inequality and discrimination by supporting girls and women in their empowerment journey so that they can improve their lives and those of their families and communities.
food sovereignty and environmental justice
Food Sovereignty and Environmental Justice: We support families and communities to improve their health and income while protecting the environment by implementing agroecological techniques and social practices that build resilience to the climate crisis and transform gender relations.
water, sanitation and hygiene
Water, Sanitation & Hygiene: We support improved access to water and sanitation and promote healthy hygiene practices at homes, communities and schools.
“2023 has been a continuation of the trials Casa Pueblito and the world at large have been struggling with since the beginning of the pandemic. I doubt if any of us can easily recall life as we knew it pre-Covid except for one, ongoing trait...the need to adapt. Our team here in Toronto and Managua have been through so much but we have also been bolstered by the kindness and generosity of our supporters like you. I am so proud to be a part of this wonderful association from our hard-working board of directors, our committed team on the job daily to our amazing community partners who know better than any of us the meaning of struggle.
